The Principal of Fr. Oucho Girls Secondary School in Nyamira County, Francisca Gesare, has voiced her support for the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC), emphasizing its practical solutions to contemporary issues.

She commends the CBC for addressing the evolving challenges of the technology-driven world.

Although she acknowledges that implementing the curriculum is costly, she urges parents to back it, highlighting its role in imparting relevant knowledge to inquisitive young minds.

“As the system takes root in the minds of students, it will produce a new generation of practical engineers, pilots, and doctors who can compete on the global stage,” Gesare noted.

In addition, she lauded Machogu, for his collaborative approach and contrasted it with his predecessors who, in her opinion, steamrolled decisions in the sector, leading to uncertainty.

Furthermore, Gesare urged Upper Primary and Junior Secondary Schools to nurture their pupils effectively, as some students who transitioned due to the 100 percent Primary to Secondary School policy struggle with basic English language skills.

Additionally, the Principal expressed her appreciation to the Ministry of Education for reintroducing the teaching of vernacular in grades 1-3, as it aids in teaching from the known to the unknown, facilitating a better understanding of fundamental educational concepts.

She also advised parents to create a loving environment for their children to ensure they grow up immersed in their culture, as love fosters peace and unity, essential for development.
