The Ministry of Education (MoE) has effected several changes on the positions of Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDEs) across the country to address the gaps in its field offices.
The changes have majorly been occasioned by retirement as well as promotion and transfers of office bearers in the course of the year.
Those affected by the move include former County Directors of Education (CDEs) who have now been deployed as SCDE in what may be perceived in some quarters as demotions.
For instance, former Nyamira CDE Boniface Ouko has been posted to Mumias East in Kakamega County as the new SCDE. Ouko had been stationed at the Nyanza Regional Director’s (RDE) office after leaving his perch at Nyamira.
He has replaced by Rosemary Birenge who was promoted to full director and sent to take charge of Kisumu County as the new CDE.
Nicholas Oyucho, formerly Siaya CDE, will now take over as the Sabatia SCDE. He was operating from the Nyanza RDE’s office before his deployment. He had earlier served as Kuria East SCDE.
Josephine Walela, formerly Turkana CDE and later posted to Western RDE’s office, has now been dispatched to take charge of Matungu Sub-County as Director. She replaces Specia Akello who has now been moved to the neighbouring Mumias West Sub-County.
South Pokot SCDE Charles Kibet Kitur now moves to Kakamega Central to replace Isaac Kabora Mwangi who retired this year. On the other hand, Kitur will be succeeded by Mary Krop who was the Kipkomo Sub-County Quality Assurance and Standards Officer (QASO).
Kajiado Central SCDE Job Kaikai now goes to Nakuru East and will be replaced by a new appointee Isaac Kipkosgei.
Philip Leruso has been transferred to Buuri West in Meru, swapping places with Geoffrey Ndeto who has proceeded to Kajiado West.
Ms Luley Abdilahi has been moved from Isinya in Kajiado to Kamukunji in Nairobi. She has been succeeded by Clarice Mwita from Nakuru East.
In Kajiado North, Wairuri Joseph has left for Njiru Sub-County in Nairobi and has been replaced by a new appointee whose name was not immediately available.
Also transferred is Laikipia West SCDE Josephine Thuranira who reportedly proceeded to a Sub-County in Kitui. She has been replaced by Simon Gichuru who has been the SCDE for Matinyani in Kitui County.
Gabriel Lopus has now left Nakuru West for his new station in Nandi East. He takes over from Benard Manyasi who retired from service recently.
In the North-Rift, Kennedy Makokha has left Kwanza Sub-County in Trans-Nzoia County and has been replaced by AnthonY Barasa who has been the Nandi Central SCDE. On the other hand, Simeon Murkomen who had been posted to Kilifi South will take over from Barasa in Nandi Central.
Murkomen had been deployed to replace Mohammed Alio who was promoted to full CDE and posted to Samburu County. He went to replace David Koech who was sent to Vihiga County in a similar capacity.
In Lugari, Kakamega County, Nancy Cheluget, who has been the Sub-County QASO, now moves to Soi in neighbouring Uasin Gishu County as SCDE.
She replaces Erick Obiri who has transferred to Matete Sub-County in Kakamega County. On his part, Obiri replaces Tom Amolo who has since retired.
Alice Sitienei ,who has been in charge of Kesses Sub-County, has moved to Keiyo North in Elgeyo Marakwet County. She replaces Joseph Magi who was promoted and deployed to Marsabit as CDE.
David Kipsaat who has been the Ainabkoi Sub-County has swapped places with Simon Peter Kemei of Koibatek in Baringo County.
