Form groups for economic empowerment, senator urges Nyamira youths

Nominated Senator, Essy Okenyuri has asked the youths to form groups and come up with development ideas that would earn them funding from the government and private sector.

Senator underscored the importance of youths forming groups to start economic projects for their financial growth.

She was speaking at Keberesi village in her Bomachoge Borabu Constituency.

She also asked the youth to use their energy to conserve the environment by planting many trees as the main approach to fighting climate change

Citing UNESCO’s project about the Green Transition that will result in the creation of 1.8 million jobs for young people by 2030, she asked the youths to seize the opportunity to become job creators instead of job seekers.

She also asked the youths to stand up and be counted in the fight against climate change.

The legislator further reminded the residents of the strategies involved in the successful transition to the green world.

The senator urged the youth to equip themselves with green skills named as knowledge, abilities, values and attitudes.

“While Green skills are relevant for all ages they are very importance for younger people who can contribute to the green transition for a longer period of time.” She said.
