Kakamega County Schools soccer champions Musingu Boys say they will rally behind their rivals Shanderema Secondary in the forthcoming national championships.

Musingu also dismissed claims that they had appealed their 3-0 loss to Shanderema during their Western regional finals at the Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday.

“We are a peace-loving soccer team and have accepted the results of the regionals. We will support Shanderema as our regional representatives in the forthcoming nationals,” said head coach Brendan Mwinamo.

He said they were now focused on the next year’s competition amid confidence that they would go all the way to the nationals.

“Ours is a young squad that is growing very fast. It will be a more formidable side by next year and our competitors should, thus, brace for a tough battle,” he added.

Mwinamo said three of their players had earned call-ups to AFC Leopards and Tusker.

“Our midfielder David Esabwa has been scouted by Tusker while striker Allan Litwaka and defender Lameck Luhangala have earned slots in Leopards,” he added.

And Shanderema continued to receive accolades from area leaders with the latest being cash rewards and a cow from Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda.

Mrs. Muhanda visited the school in Shinyalu Constituency and gifted the players, other students, and teachers amidst song and dance.

“Shanderema has made us proud and we shall strongly support them to clinch the national title,” she said.

The school Principal Simon Watenga said they were preparing for the nationals and assured their fans of victory. The finals are slated for Kakamega from August 7 to 12.
