Busia qualifying schools get training support ahead of KSSSA regionals

Teams representing Busia County at the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association Regional Games have every reason to smile as expenses for their one-week training camp are fully catered for.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has sponsored the teams to go for training through the Kenya Academy of Sports.

The CS, who graced the finals of the county games at Nambale Boys last Saturday, said the training will boost the morale of the teams ahead of the regional games at Kakamega School starting July 17th, 2023.

Ababu also rewarded the regional-bound soccer boys champions John Osogo and runners-up Madende secondary schools with Ksh. 25,000 each.

Soccer ladies winners St. Joseph’s Chakol and runners-up Katakwa pocketed the same amount each.

Other teams that participated in the County meet received Ksh. 50,000 to share amongst themselves as the officials also received a similar amount.

The CS also bought all the trophies awarded at the County level which was valued at Ksh. 400,000.

Other teams to represent Busia at the regionals include netball national defending champions Bumala AC and runners-up St.  Joseph’s Chakol girls.

Volleyball boys winners Sigalame and runners-up Butula and volleyball ladies winners Bumala AC and runners-up St. Peter’s Busibi.

Rugby will be represented by champions Kolanya Boys, first runners-up St. Mary’s  Mundika,  second runners-up Butula, and fourth finishers  Nambale Boys.
