Stop fighting in presence of your children, parents warned

Parents have been asked to avoid quarreling in the presence of their children.

While speaking at Kathiani Boys High School, Speaker Ezekiel Odongo alias Kelly Inspiration said that it has been found that many troubled students in school experience problems at home, especially fights between their parents.

He noted that many of the children have witnessed Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at home in addition to usage of vulgar language, which takes a toll on their mental health leading to cases of depression.

Odongo stressed on the need for parents to ensure they mind their language and character in the presence of their children, especially teenagers.

“These children may keep quiet when they see these things but it’s killing them inside thus making them fail in school due to lack of concentration. Beware of words you use and how you carry yourself,” he said.

He added: “Some of the couple fights are healthy but don’t involve them in your fights because schools are struggling to fix these broken children who will grow up into broken adults.”

The Speaker also urged parents to motivate their children to do well in education and take keen interest in their studies.

According to him, parents should find ways to bond with their kids and devise new methods of making them feel loved and appreciated as this is key towards helping them post stellar results.
