MKU emerge winners in regional moot court competition

Mount Kenya University (MKU) Parklands Law Campus has emerged the winner in a moot court competition hosted by Mount Kigali University.

The MKU Regional Human Rights Moot Court Competition themed, ‘Climate Change Refugees – Enhancing Governments’ Transparency and Accountability in the Promotion of Human Rights’, was aimed at helping the students find innovative solutions to address challenges surrounding displacement and protection of human rights through alternative dispute resolution.

University of Kigali clinched the 1st runners up position and was followed by INES-Ruhengeri University.

MKU’s Mumo Moses was crowned the best male orator while Marizah Latifah from the University of Kigali was the best female orator.

“The participation of our university alongside Schools of Law from Rwanda including University of Rwanda, University of Kigali, INES and UNILAK will provide our students with a platform to interact and learn from diverse legal backgrounds,” MKU Parklands Law Campus Director Nelly Wamaitha said.

Wamaitha observed that the competition helps law students to enhance their legal knowledge, research, and advocacy skills in a simulated courtroom setting and are challenged to engage with complex legal issues and present their arguments before experienced legal professionals.
