Nangina Girls emerge football champions in Samia sub-county

Nangina Girls High School’s football team is the new Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Samia sub-county girls’ football champions.

They achieved the feat today after beating Nganjala Girls High 2-0 in a thrilling final at Nambo Primary School, enabling them to earn a ticket to represent Samia at the county level.

Nangina made their intentions clear when Velma Bwire netted the first goal in the 14th minute after sidestepping Nganjala’s defence. She was on the mark again in the 34th minute to seal the game.

The school had earlier caused an upset when they eliminated defending champions, Bujwang’a High School on penalties after a goalless draw in normal time.

The winners at the County level will earn the privilege of representing Busia at the Regional and later National level with the ultimate winners set to represent Kenya at the East Africa Local Authority Sports and Cultural Association (EALASCA) Games.

The games will bring together the East African Community member states that include Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and DR Congo, the latest kid on the block.
