The family of deceased teacher Nancy Chepchumba Birgen is still seeking justice following the death of their kin due to alleged negligence by Kapsabet County Referral Hospital health officials.
Birgen died on May 21, 2023 and was buried last week in Kabiye Location in Nandi North sub-county.
Her family and friends claim she developed health complications and was not attended to because the district hospital did not have medicine.
Her relatives were forced to take her to a private facility before being transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret where she succumbed.
The hospital’s health officials were suspended by Nandi Governor Stephen Sang to pave way for investigations into the death of the pregnant school teacher.
The suspension came just hours after the governor warned his staff against incompetence.
The governor appointed a committee led by Dr. Daniel Chepsiror to look into the matter.
The committee has summoned the health officials to appear and defend themselves.
