Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho is set to hold a mega thanksgiving cum prayer day ceremony following its good performance in 2022 KCSE.

The event will be held on Friday May 26, 2023.

The school was ranked second nationally and first in Kisii county with a mean of 10.76.

Out of the 330 students who sat for the exams, 28 scored A plain. Other grades scored were: 201(A-), 97(B+), 3(B) and 1(B-).

Chief Principal Albert Ombiro said the school has every reason to celebrate the good results posted after a long wait.

He thanked Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu for helping the school whenever need arises.

He thanked area MP for taking it upon himself to help organize the event.

“We are comfortable and happy with the close indulgence of the political class, students, parents, stakeholders and the sponsor Catholic church,” Ombiro said, adding that the thanksgiving ceremony will be one of its kind due to the exemplary performance posted.

Deputy Principal Administration Gerald Ayiera alluded that the school’s motto of “use common sense” has seen learners adhere to rules and regulations of school learning.

He revealed that the teachers are through with the form four syllabus hence they have enough time to revise and polish the areas the candidates are weak in.

He added that their aim is to improve from being the second best to the best school countrywide.

Deputy Principal Academics David Mayaka stated that discipline has been the school’s key catalyst in delivering good performances.

“We have been very much keen on ensuring that the five models (fighting drugs, fights, sneaking, stealing and LGBTQ association) for a successful learner are maintained and followed  to the latter,” he said, noting further that there is total parent child teacher  involvement which has consequently led to improved school performance.
