Litein Boys High school has been closed and all students suspended after they staged demonstrations that led to destruction of school properties including window panes, laboratory, Administration block, Biometric systems and smashed a private vehicle.

The students staged the protests at around 9:30 p.m over change in entertainment timetable from Sunday evening to afternoon.

Police officers from Litein Police station were called after the teachers tried to calm the students to no avail.

According to a senior police officer at Bureti sub-county police headquarters in Litein, police fired several bullets in the air to contain the students.

They were later forced to spend their night at the school playground.

No statement has been issued by the school management as it is currently having a crisis meeting.

Similarly, students of Kipsuter Boys High School in Bomet County have also gone on strike to protest the transfer of their former Principal.

“The students marched to the county headquarters on Monday morning to present their grievances to senior education officers though no ugly incidents were reported,” Mr. Phanton Analo, the Chepalungu sub-county police commander noted.
