Chiefs who used their positions to intimidate and defile school girls will be dismissed from their positions if they are proved guilt by the court of law.
Speaking at Kisii town, Tom Anjere –Kisii County Commissioner, said it was self-degrading for adults to indulge themselves in sexual orgies with the children whom they are supposed to protect.
“Civil servants have been trusted with power to discharge their duties with diligence and honour,” he said.
The administrator was reacting to reports about an Assistant Chief who allegedly defiled a Form Three school girl in Nyacheki of Nyamache Sucounty on Wednesday.
According to the mother of the abused girl, Irene Ositu, the Chief reportedly uses a village woman as his conduit to lure the girl into his hands.
“My daughter was taken to the Assistant Chief’s home by our neighbour called Peninah who left her to evil acts,” she said.
She alleged that the Chief lured her daughter with Ksh 2,000 before she yielded to his lusts.
Villagers who suspected the girls movements tipped the mother who followed her up and found the two of them in a hotel. She took her to hospital where she was confirmed to have slept with him.
She reported the matter to the police who started investigations to arrest the suspected Assistant Chief.
Nyangusu police boss confirmed that the case had been reported at their offices, adding that the victim is a Form Three student at Suguta Girls Secondary School.
Education News tried to contact the principal of Suguta Secondary School for comment but she could not be reached as she was busy in the KESSHA regional retreat in Nakuru town.
Residents who spoke to this reporter said that child abuse cases had increased in the region.
They attributed the cases to widespread brewing and selling of the illicit liquor like chang’aa and general societal immorality.
They accused the police and other leaders who have abdicated their duties to abet crime.
