Governor meets Canadian scholar, aims at collaboration, improvements in VTCs

VTCs

Bomet County Governor, Professor Hillary Barchok, recently met with Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, President and CEO of Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning to explore possible areas of partnership especially in improving Vocational Training Colleges (VTCs) in Bomet County and learning best practices in TVET particularly in recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Applied Research, Competency based education and Training.

Humber College is one of Canada’s leading post-secondary institutions which offers a combination of theoretical learning and hands-on experience aimed at transforming post-secondary education through global polytechnic leadership.

Soon, the Governor said, Humber College will partner with institutions in Bomet County as they discussed how they can create centres of excellence in 33 VTCs in Bomet.

“Once the framework modalities will have been done, teacher and student will exchange technical programmes between Humber College and Bomet VTCs” he said.

The collaboration is expected to equip youth with knowledge, skills and training to compete around the globe.
