Kenya reaches deal with Germany to boost TVET institutions

The recent German trip led by Presidents William Ruto will see equipping of TVET institutions as a way of empowering young people with modern skills that merge German levels.

Speaking during a media briefing at his residence, Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi said Baringo County and German Government as well as German business community have already finalized cooperation and strategic partnership targeting to enhance sector and settle inadequate technical skills.

The County boss challenged youth to take advantage of the deal by enrolling in technical institutions within the county and across the country.

In the deal, Training of Trainers for TVETs in Germany on modern building and construction technologies will facilitate transfer of contemporary skills to learners.

Cheboi noted that the intended roll out of a student’s Exchange Program with technical institutions in Gersthofen in Augsburg and Bavaria region will facilitate importation of German skills at the same time offer job opportunities for our skilled and qualified work force upon completion of technical course.

The Governor added that the borrowed expertise and assistance in the creation of modern Research and Innovation parks would soon yield fruits once youth embrace the quarter.

“I am grateful for the long-standing history, relationship and support the two countries has had before in uplifting the promising sector. This has greatly build social and economic ties with the signing of collaborations,’’ Baringo Governor said in his brief.

The delegation also engaged lucrative economic ties with Bavarian Government through collaboration with Association of the Bavarian Economy (VBW) and state Parliament of Bavaria.

The German delegation was led by Mayor of Gestoffen, Michael Worle and his team Klaus Shwenk, Stanl Keminski, Christian Biesinkei and Wolfgank Heal.

The larger Kenyan delegation included Cabinet Secretary Education Ezekiel Machogu, Principal Secretary, and State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Dr. Esther Muoria, Member of Parliament for Baringo Central Joshua Kandie and Makali Muli from Kitui County together with Director of TIVETs Mr. Edwin Tarno.
