Bondo MP’s office through the NG-CDF committee has embarked on an ambitious program which aims at paying full school fees for all Form Four students who are day scholars in the constituency.
Gideon Ochanda, Bondo Constituency MP, says that contrary to the previous years where they awarded flat rate bursaries of Kshs. 6,000 to all day scholars in the constituency, this year they have decided to increase the allocation for all Form Four students.
He states that this time round every Form Four student who is a day scholar shall be awarded Kshs. 10,000 to cater for their full school fees.
Ochanda who spoke during the commencement of the bursary disbursement program at Got Matar and Kanyibok Mixed Secondary Schools revealed that their target is to reach out to all the 6,000 Form Four students in the 37day schools within the constituency.
The lawmaker further disclosed that they are going to spend at least Kshs. 27 million in the bursary program, noting that they shall begin the disbursement for students in boarding schools, colleges and universities as well.
He stated that they anticipate increasing the bursary allocation from the current Kshs. 27 million to about Kshs. 40 million in the next financial year owing to the projected increase of NG-CDF allocation for Bondo constituency.
Ochanda revealed that there were ongoing changes by the NG-CDF board on how the fund should be shared amongst the 290 constituencies in the country, noting that Bondo is expected to get additional funding.
