Few days after Cabinet Secretary of Education, Ezekiel Machogu, ordered the reinstatement of Prof Romanus Odhiambo, the Vice Chancellor of Meru University, to his position following his ouster by the institution’s council members, the council has been disbanded and a new one picked by the CS.
Machogu appointed the new council members and instructed them to start work as from March 10, 2023 as posted in a gazette notice. Jane Kiringai has been appointed to be the chairperson of the council for a period of three years.
The rest of the council members include; Janet Afandi Ominde, Martin Kinoti, Jacob Kwamba, Lucy Rimanto Ndonket and Sylvester Kibiwott Kinyor replacing Damaris Nyansuguta, Naomi Kupuri, Paul Mungai Dick Waswa, Pauline Jeruto, Stephen Kimani, Muriira M`Mbwiria and the Bhair Bosire Mwebi who had relieved the VC from his position on February 27, 2023.
The CS said the former council’s term came to an end on March 7 and after ordering Bosire`s led team to reinstate Prof Odhiambo.
The CS termed the move by the former council to remove Romanus from office as full of ill motives.
