7 educationists battle for CAS position in Education ministry

The Public Service Commission has released a list of shortlisted candidates for positions of Chief Administrative Secretary in the public service.

Only 224 candidates have been shortlisted for the position out of a whopping 5,183 applicants who applied by the October 13, 2022 deadline.

There are seven candidates whom Education News has speculated will be designated to the Ministry of Education.

The first favourite is Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) National Chairman Mr. Alfred Kahi Indimuli who doubles as Machakos Boys High school Principal.

Next is former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion who was very vocal on issues affecting teachers during his tenure at the helm of the giant teachers’ union. He was also a nominated Member of Parliament.

Immediate former Principal Secretary in the State Department of Early Learning and Basic Education, Ministry of Education Julius Ouma Jwan is also a favourite for the position, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his stint as the Director/CEO at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).

Prof. Micheni Ntiba Japhet is also on the list as a potential appointee. He assumed office on February 19, 2021 as the Chief Administrative Secretary, State Law Office and Department of Justice. Previously, he served as the Principal Secretary inthe Ministry of Education and as the Director of the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Nairobi.

Prof. M. H Kahlil a Professor at Pwani University in the list as well as Prof. Elijah Gitonga Rintangu an Associate Professor at Kenyatta University School of Business, Economics and Tourism. Prior to that, Prof. Gitonga was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Recreation Management & Exercise Science at Kenyatta University.

Lastly, we have Prof Josephat Ijela Lisiolo Lishenga, who is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance and Accounting at the University of Nairobi. Previously, he was contracted as a Senior Examinations Officer with Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB).
