Sixty one students from Muhoroni constituency will benefit from Ksh 3.5 million bursary kitty courtesy of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
While presenting the donations to the students outside the CDF offices in Chemelil, area Member of Parliament Onyango K’Oyoo said the beneficiaries will have their fees paid for the next four years.
The MP said he initiated the scheme in 2014 noting that the constituency has now produced a number of professionals.
K’Oyoo said all those who qualify for professional courses at the end of four years will have their education catered for via full scholarships.
He said that all bright but needy students will have their fees paid through the bursary scheme.
“The programme is the best example of the bottom up module where children from lowly families are uplifted through education,” he said.
K’Oyoo said a number of students who have benefited through the scheme will hold a forum in December to motivate the current beneficiaries.
“We shall have a big party where some of the graduates from professional departments from Universities will converge here,” he said.
