Grief has struck Migingo Girl’s High School in Kisumu after its deputy principal was allegedly murdered by her own son in cold blood.

Earlier reports indicated that the late Roselyn  Atieno Nyawada was stabbed to death by her son Jeff Onyango Nyawada, who went ahead to burn her body beyond recognition.

The incident, which has left villagers in shock, occurred at Rabuor over the weekend.

According to a police report seen by Education News, the incident was filed by one Stephen Allan Nyawada, who happens to be the brother of the murderer.

He had travelled from his residence in Kisumu to visit his mother Roseline Atieno Nyawada, who was living with his suspect brother Jeff Onyango Nyawada at the time of death.

He found the door locked from inside, but upon his insistent knock, the brother opened to the horror of his mother’s charred remains that had been burnt beyond recognition inside the bathroom.

The report says police officers from Rabuor Police Station visited the scene at Migingo village, Nyamware South Location and established that the deceased was staying in the school compound with the suspect.

The officers found kerosene in a cup at the door of the bathroom and a kitchen knife beside the body. They also found a kerosene lamp that is believed to have been used in the commission of the crime. All have been kept as exhibits.

Nyanza Regional Police Commander Karanja Muiruri said the body was taken to Star Annex Morgue in Kisumu awaiting autopsy.

He said the suspect aged 27 years is in custody at Rabuor Police Station.

The officer said the suspect will be taken to court once investigations are completed.
