Drivers and boda boda operators from Kisii County have been asked to be vigilant during the December holiday and the period when students will be travelling in large numbers toward their homes.
Rocky Driving School Director, Rev. Abel Ombati said that many accidents occur at such a time, during Christmas and also New Year celebrations.
“At this time, our motorists should be careful because there is congestion on our roads. They should observe professionalism and maintain sanity,” he said.
Rev. Ombati asked the motorists to ensure the safety of their travellers by shunning intoxicating substances and observing traffic rules.
He castigated drivers and their conductors who surcharge passengers and urged them to value people over profit.
On the same breath, he warned them against misleading school girls by giving them free vehicle rides in exchange of sexual affairs.
While appealing to the police to identify and bring such characters to book, the director asked vehicle owners to promptly sack drivers found in questionable activities.
Rev. Ombati further appealed to parents whose children have completed secondary school to enroll them in local driving colleges most of which are found in Kisii town.
