President-elect asked to consider completion of projects he started in Kisii

Professionals from Kisii County have asked the President-elect William Ruto to consider Kenyenya Subcounty when planning for projects.

Led by Dr. Albert Ondari, they said that they were proud of the education projects he had intiated when he was Deputy President and expressed their pleasure to see them completed.

They cited the completion of Kenyenya Secondary School dormitory that he helped to rebuild after a sudden fire blazed the entire building.

“We appealed to him within short notice and he came to rescue our destitute learners,” commented George Bibao, former MCA for Bokimonge Ward.

In another forum, Kisii County Education Board Chairman Prof Henry Onderi asked parents not mix education with politics.

The chairman was reacting to pressure from some parents who wanted the reopening of schools postponed from 18th August to a later date depending on the settlement of political disagreement of the just concluded presidential elections.

“There is peace in the country and I do not see the reason for our parents expressing fear about their children being at school,” he said.

He asked the ministry of education to put in place enough measures to ensure that all children resumed their studies peacefully.

“We have had enough of closures of institutions of learning because of unforseen circumstances,” he said.

The chairman mentioned the Covid-19 pandemic that crippled learning institutions and asked all education stakeholders to co-operate with teachers for the compensation of the lost time.

He lauded the CS for education Prof George Magoha for his untiring efforts to spearhead education projects in the country.
