Uasin Gishu County Director of Education (CDE) has warned school heads against sending students home for fees and instead sit down with parents and agree on a payment formula conducive for both parties.

Speaking after opening Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms at Wareng Secondary School, Muriuki Harrison said that the school heads should make arrangements to also receive the fees through farm produce, livestock or firewood.

“Concerning fee payment, we have asked school heads not to send students home for fees but instead call parents to have discussions and agree on when and how they will pay the fees,” said the CDE.

He however called on enabled parents to pay their fees on time for easy running of the school.

“It’s the responsibility of parents to pay fees but give them an opportunity to pay in small bits,” said Muriuki.

Mr. Muriuki noted that the County was ready for the enrolment of Junior Secondary school students as the construction of CBC classrooms was complete.

“The construction of Phase One CBC classrooms is complete in both private and public secondary schools and we are ready to receive junior secondary students,” he said.

He further said that the County was ready for the national examinations for Classes Six and Eight with preparations in top gear.
