Matungulu Member of Parliament Stephen Mule has called upon the Ministry of Education to introduce school feeding programme in primary schools to keep the children in the school.
Mule said that many families are on the brink of starvation due to the insufficient rains and high prices of food.
“It’s no lie that there is hunger, no food at home because we didn’t harvest anything. I would like to urge the education Cabinet Secretary (CS) to find a way of introducing a lunch programme to curb absenteeism among primary school pupils,” he said.
Mule spoke at Mukengesya Secondary School where he commissioned a newly built administration block.
He urged all stakeholders to be active in issues concerning education for better results.
The legislator also promised more projects for the school if re-elected.
