Machakos gubernatorial candidate Nzioka Waita has vowed to improve education in the county if elected.

While speaking at Mbee in Kathiani during his campaign tour of the area, the CCU candidate noted the sector needs improvement and under his leadership that will be attainable.

He promised to employ more ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms, launch a feeding program and build more classes to motivate parents to take their children to public schools.

“I know parents have been paying for ECDE teachers employed by the board, we will employ the teachers and pay them handsomely because they are the people who mold these children and need consideration too,” he said.

Furthermore, Waita promised to build more Training and vocational institutes that will ensure students who are unable join university continue with their studies.

He also pledged to ensure fair allocation of county bursaries to benefit the less privileged students.

“I will also offer scholarship programmes for post-graduate and undergraduate students. I have a soft spot for education and will do my best not to fail you,” he told a cheering crowd.

He was accompanied by his running mate Florence Mwangangi among other leaders.
