A family in Rupingazi Estate in Embu Town is in distress after their secondary school twin boys disappeared mysteriously.
Their mother Naisera Muthoni who tearfully spoke to Education News said that the two had completed preparation to go back to school after the one-week holiday.
Leon Macharia, 15 and his identical twin brother Ryan Mwenda were both form two students at Moi High school Mbiruri and Kangaru Boys High school respectfully.
Mrs Muthoni said the two disappeared at midday when he was preparing to take them to school.
“They were to report yesterday to their respective schools. We woke up, prepared, ate lunch and then I entered my room to prepare for five minutes. When I came back, I found them gone,” she said.
Mrs Muthoni, a teacher at Nyangwa Boys High School, drove around hoping to locate them but it was all in vain.
While observing that there had never been any unusual behaviour or indiscipline issues from the two, Muthoni said they had raised concern that their wish was to school in one secondary school since they were twins.
She said during the recent holiday is when the issue of schooling together cropped up and she did not imagine it could escalate to a level of leaving home.
She had already given them Ksh 2,000 for their pocket money.
Mrs Muthoni said the reason for separating them was that they wanted to inculcate and develop individual character and personality.
The mother said that the information she received from bodaboda riders who operate within that area was that they were seen boarding a Nairobi-bound matatu at the Embu Town terminus.
She said she had already reached out to all their relatives but none has made contact with the boys.
The matter has been reported at Itabua Police station.
She has made an appeal to the public to reach out to her from anyone who is in knowledge of the whereabouts of the twins.
Muthoni can be reached via phone number 0723511745 and their father via Joseph Mwaniki on 0722321655.
