The Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation has awarded 18 students who excelled in their KCSE exams and had been unable to raise fees to further their education.
The Foundation awarded 5 and 13 students in Obwolo and Dr. Aloo Gumbi secondary schools students respectively.
Addressing the students during the award ceremony, the Foundation’s president Lawyer James Aggrey Mwamu said he had been greatly impressed by the exemplary performance of the selected students.
The lawyer urged stakeholders to be open to forums and discussions that will address and improve the dwindling education standards in Kisumu East Constituency.
Mr. Mwamu who is the former president of the East African Law Society congratulated the government in its latest policy of pushing for 100% transition for all KCPE candidates to get into secondary schools countrywide.
“I urge parents to support the government in ensuring that their children who sat for KCPE proceed to Form One regardless of their financial standing,” he said.
The Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation has been visiting secondary schools within Kisumu East constituency while awarding the best 2021 KCSE candidates and conducting motivation forums for the current candidates.
The Foundation has so far visited Orongo, Angira, Kibos, Obwolo and Dr Aloo Gumbi secondary schools.
