Ruto supports stranded Form One student in Machakos

Kenya’s Deputy President, William Ruto has rescued a Form One student stranded due to lack of school fees.

The Deputy President was his a campaign trail on in Machakos County on May 10 when Kavindu Mutuku, the student, approached him, saying that she had not yet reported to schools despite learning kicking off in various schools across the country.

The desperate student, after providing her calling letter, informed the DP that her mother was not in a position to raise Sh50,000 required for her reporting to Form One.

Ruto, after having a brief conversation with Kavindu’s mother, offered to support her through school with a donation of Sh.200,000.

“You can hear the mother saying this child has not reported to school because school fees have been a challenge. I want to pay her school fees for four years. Go pay and let this young girl study,” he stated.

Last week, Education Cabinet Secretary asked secondary school principals to admit all Form Ones regardless of having paid school fees.
