Joshua Safari from Busy Bee primary school is the top student in the Coast region with 421 marks out of possible 500 in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) 2021results released earlier today.
Safari 14, says he aspires to Join Alliance High School and to later pursue medicine.
“My dream has been to study Alliance or Starehe Boy’s High School and later study medicine in the university, and I am happy because I have performed well and I hope I will be able to accomplish my dreams,” said Safari.
The soft spoken boy attributed his success to hard work in studies and a good relationship between him and his teachers. Safari had been among the best students in his class since he joined the school.
Safari’s mother Lorraine Mlamba termed his son as a hard working student who has always expressed his interest in studies.
“My son is a go-getter, he has always told me that he wants to pursue medicine and I am happy his dreams are now taking the right path,” said Mlamba.
At Makemba academy in Kwale County, celebrations rent the air after twin sisters- Racquel Malemba and Michelle Cheptoo scored 392 and 386 respectively to join the list of top achievers.
“We wanted to join Mpesa foundation academy but we were not selected… However our alternative choice was Kenya high. We would like to be pediatricians so that we can help children,” said Racquel and Michelle.
In Memon Primary School in Mvita, Ruweidah Kafizah Kassim scored 416 marks to emerge the top student in the school. She expressed her joy with the results saying she will study in Alliance Girls and later pursue medicine.
“I want to pursue medicine and help the society with my skills studied hard and I attribute my success to the support I got from my parents,” said Kafizah.
Mohamed Hussein, 15 of Memon Academy years was the second best candidate in the school after attaining 412 marks.Memon school mean score improved from 345 in 2020 to 350 in 2021.
Hussein who says he will join Memon High School in the same compound expressed his joy for emerging the top in his school. He said Kiswahili was the most difficult subject. He said his dream is to study medicine after high school.
“I feel good, I have made my mother proud especially after taking care of me after the death of my father in 2020.My relationship with teachers combined with a lot of prayer and revision propelled me to my success,” said Hussein.
William Kibet 14 years from Bethany academy in Kwale was among the best performing candidates after garnering 416 marks.Kibet says his dream is to pursue engineering after completing his secondary school.
In Karama Academy in Msambweni,Ashley Said scored 416 marks followed by Yvone Nyaboke with 406 while Hamisi Nyoka got 402 while Norah Achieng got 400 marks. From Almona Academy in Malindi Kelly Baraka scored 420 marks while Mark Gitonga of PCEA academy in Voi scored 413 marks.
Hussein Hassan from Fairfield school in Bamburi scored 412 marks emerging the top in his school.In Busy bee Abdalla Najaher 15 from Busy Bee scored 409 followed by Kingori Anne Wachu with 408 and Rehema Kaizer Irene with 404.
Others are Alwai Khadija Mohamed 404 coming fifth while Abdulkarim Ahmed Abdulkarim with 404.Atleast 33 candidates had sat their KCPE in Memon school where 6 six) candidates scored 400 and above with the last pupil scoring 330 marks.
According to the School head teacher Dorothy Kaimuri said the performance is as a result of teacher student relationship. The school means score improved from 359.6 in 2020 to 381 in the 2021 examination. The school has produced top candidates for the last three years in Mombasa.
“Our performance was as a result of teacher parent and candidate relationship, it is not the first time we have produced the best results in Mombasa we have been doing so for the past few years,” said Kaimuri.
