Church officials from Baringo County have pleaded with local leaders to salvage Baringo Bible College that is facing imminent closure.

Led by the college Principal Rev. Francis Sirma, they noted that the contributions from local churches within the region and support from well-wishers was hardly sustainable.

Rev. Sirma made the passionate appeal on Sunday during a Pemwai region meeting where he called out for a long term solutions to the African Inland Church (AIC) institution which he said has natured so many church leaders from the county and beyond.

He pointed out that the college is facing a myriad of challenges such as an extra dormitory for men and ladies, a dining hall as well as food to feed student pastors which he noted has negatively impacted on enrolment of students.

“Our college used to enroll over 100 students but we now have only 34 trainees which is very difficult to manage since what they pay cannot effectively run the daily operations of the institution,” the college principal explained.

He stated that the institution was also lacking crucial teaching gadgets like a projector, a television screen and computers which has prompted him to donate his personal laptop but got damaged.

Rev Sirma added that have been conducting their evangelical meeting using a projector they have borrowed from a neighbouring college which has at times been strenuous to access when it is urgently needed.

The institution’s chairman Isaac Kibogong while reiterating the sentiments noted that the college has running under arrears with part of it occasioned due to false promises.

However, Kibogong exuded confidence that with a mega fundraiser they have planned towards the end of the year aimed at completing a new dormitory facility and total support from all other stakeholders, the college shall roar again just like in the past.
