As the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations that is ongoing across country enters day three, two girls in Nyamira County are sitting their papers in hospital after one of them gave birth successfully as the other fell ill and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
The Nyamira County Director of Education Mr. Boniface Ouko confirmed the cases to the center managers who had come to pick the examinations at the containers at Nyamira Commissioner’s office on Wednesday morning.
“One of the girls is from a school in Nyamira North Sub-county who gave birth successfully but was taken to hospital for proper care as she continues with her examinations,” he said while addressing the center managers.
The Director added that the second girl was taken to hospital after suddenly falling ill.
Nyamira County Public Health officer Jack Magara confirmed the admission of both girls at Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital, saying that both of them are responding well to the medications.
“The two candidates are responding well to medicine and hope they will continue doing their examinations from hospital before they get better,” he confirmed.
The Director of Education said that the examinations are going on well and thanked the examination centre managers for braving the morning cold to report to the examination collection centres for the papers.
He appealed to all education stakeholders in the county to be alert and prevent any examination malpractices till end of examination exercise.
