Head teachers and school principals have been warned against conducting tuition during this holiday season.
Speaking after opening KCSE exams container in Eldoret Dr. Julius Jwan, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Early Learning and Basic Education said that those who will be found will face the full force of the law.
Over 18,000 students from Uasin Gishu County registered for this year’s KCSE where 9,400 are boys while 9,100 are girls.
He noted that no cases of exam irregularity had been reported in the area so far.
“I want to give a stern warning to Principals and Head Teachers conduction tuitions that their days are numbered and will soon face the full force of the law. Some schools are telling parents to take their students back to school in the name of finishing the syllabus before they open, this is uncalled for and ill intended,” said Dr. Jwan while speaking to the press.
He assured candidates that time allocated for the academic year is adequate for the coverage of syllabus as stipulated in all curriculums from by KICD and that no one should mislead them in the name of clearing the syllabus.
“Normally, in a term we have ten to fourteen weeks, within that period all the learners and schools should be able to cover the syllabus without any stress. We are urging parents not to allow their students to go back into school for tuition,” the Principal Secretary added.
He reiterated that in the next academic year there will be intense learning to cover they syllabus on time.
“The next academic year will begin on April 27 and we are going to have a very intensive program of 10 weeks, so we want the learners to rest at home for now. Nobody should charge any parent in the name of going back for tuition in the name of covering the syllabus,” he said.
