As the KCSE examinations kicked off across the country, a man has been arrested by police in Busia for allegedly sitting the paper on behalf of his father.
Reports from Busia Police Station indicate that officers who were guarding the English Paper 1 at Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School were alerted by the Center Manager that there was a man sitting the paper who was not known to them.
The suspect, George Barasa disclosed to the police while being questioned that he was sent by his father to sit the examinations on his behalf.
“County Security teams led by the DCC and SCPC rushed to the center and found the suspect namely George Barasa Makokha, a Luhya male adult and upon interrogation, disclosed that he had been sent by a candidate of Index Number 35960101026 registered for Busia Sub-county namely; Josephat Basoga Makokha and who is the suspect’s father,” read part of the report.
The report further reads: “The suspect was escorted to the station and placed in custody to be charged with the offence of intent to impersonate and not being the registered candidate in contravention of section 30(c) of the KNEC Act.”
He is being held at Busia Police Station awaiting arraignment in court.
