Police asked to arrest those employing school boys as Boda-boda riders

The police in Nyamira County have been asked to arrest people who employ School boys to conduct Boda-boda business for them.

While speaking at Sororokwe village, Nyamira County Boda-boda Chairman Mr. Nelson Maaoga said that most students ran away from school to indulge in the business.

“These boys have taken the freedom of moving from school at any time they wanted to go and commit crimes,” he said.

The chairman was reacting to the recent incident where a student from Ramasa Secondary School killed a Grade One pupil after hitting him with the motor circle.

The police from Ramasa Station identified the deceased as Vincent Abai of Sororokwe Primary School.

His body was taken to Gucha Sub-county hospital for postmortem pending burial arrangements.

Following the death, Nyamira County Commissioner Mr. Michael Lesimam gave a stern order to the chiefs and their assistants to provide his office with the names of parents who kept their children at home without going to school.

He said that the law on education and children’s’ rights were clear and wondered why the government officials tolerated those who violated them.

Mr. Lesimam asked the motorists to be careful as they operate on the highways. He also asked the traffic police to arrest and take to court those who did not observe traffic rules.
