Shock and grief engulfed Gesieka village in Kisii County a few days ago when a retired teacher fell into a grave and died.
Laban Nyambane Bosire, a retired Deputy Principal was among the villagers who were digging a grave for a kin’s send-off when the incident happened.
Eye witnesses said Bosire had moved a side to answer a phone call before he went back near the grave and slipped into it.
“He moved aside to answer a phone call and when he returned, he slipped and fell into the open grave and was unconscious.” Said one of the villagers.
He was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment but died while undergoing treatment.
Migogo location Chief Nelson Ratemo confirmed the death and said that they were awaiting postmortem results to know what might have caused the retired teachers’ death.
The chief said despite the fact that the teacher had retired, he was not tired because he had continued offering essential services like guidance and counseling to the youth and helping in settling family wrangles in the community.
