Governor pegs his legacy on education

Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o has emphasised the commitment of his administration towards the improvement of education within the area.

Nyong’o reiterated that it was only last week when they launched the year’s first tranche of bursaries amounting to Sh102 million to support 1330 scholarship beneficiaries and 33,000 bursary beneficiaries.

He said the county government has established Business Innovation and Incubation Centre at the Rotary Training College that will stimulate business start-ups and accelerate growth and success while offering sustainable solutions that foster Micro and Small Enterprises’ resilience.

“In the last Financial year, we released bursaries totalling to Sh205 million,” he said.

Speaking at the Kibuye Open Air Market, the Governor assured the people of Kisumu that he is determined to deliver all the promises he made in 2017.

He said more than 90 per cent of the pledges he made in his manifesto have been implemented as he dismissed claims that development is concentrated in Kisumu town only.

“I want to use this occasion to debunk claims by some of our critics that we are only concentrating on development projects in Kisumu City while ignoring the rural areas,” he said.

Nyong’o said that they rolled out a robust development plan for other sub-counties as well.
