Makueni Boys Chief Principal Raphael Diwani has said that the school is an academic giant and as they practice on out-of-class activities, they should not lose focus on academics.

While speaking during inter house athletics competition, Diwani called upon his students to explore their talents fully as he promised to support them to go as far as they can get.

“We started with interclass competition and we have ended up with inter house competition. We have gotten the athletics team and are ready to take our team for competition with other schools if all goes well in terms of school games,” said Diwani.

The chief principal added that games helps relieve stress, helping students get engaged and therefore cases of strikes reduce.

“Since sports all about rules and regulations, it is also a way of giving students discipline. I would encourage you to have watches as you practice. Time is key in sports,” he added.

The school head observed that there were different talents and there was need to nurture them. He urged students not to fear joining others for any competition since one might have undiscovered talent hidden in them.

The games department called upon teachers to be fully involved, for every level they take the students adds them good marks in terms of promotion.

Deputy Principal Albert Musyimi thanked the students for maintaining discipline in the field. He also encouraged them to take sports serious besides academic work.

“The winning individuals have been issued with certificates which will help them in future when seeking jobs. As you present your academic certificates, you also give out those ones you get from extra curriculum activities,” Musyimi said.

The school games master Mathias Muia said the day was fully set for the event. The nine houses were competing against each other with Mulinge dorm becoming the champion followed by Liku and Harambee.

“Being a Games Master in a national school, I am proud I have gotten a future team. Let us all work together to explore and realize our talents in different sporting activities,” Muia added.
