Makunga Secondary School Principal Elphas Mudeheri has rejected the move by the Ministry of Education to re-introduce caning of students saying they would suffer severe injuries.

Students once caned, he said would end up rebelling. Instead, guiding and counseling would be the best to stop unrests.

Speaking during the BOM meeting as well as opening of one classroom and a board room funded by the Ministry of Education, Mumias Sub-county Director of Education Rosemary Birenge, disagreed with the move adding that parents should teach their children good morals during the holiday season.

Mudeheri thanked his students for embracing discipline amid school unrests that has occurred in major schools through continuous talks allowing students to participate in games.

Influence of students through community he said must stop as some of them come up with plans of causing infernos in schools.

Appealing to parents to assist teachers to instill discipline in their children, he added that many are leaving the duty to teachers, arguing that they should fully be involved.

Setting infernos principal said is a matter of incitement from parents who have failed to discipline the students while at home.

During the BOM meeting, the board revealed that CDF kitty funds were at an advanced stage to buy a piece of land facilitate the 650 students with a playing ground.
