The youth have been asked to seek guidance from their parents and the church instead of making poor decisions in life.
Area chief for Mokubo location in Kisii County Mr. Samuel Omambia regretted that when death due to cases like suicide occur in a family, members who remain behind are affected for a long time.
The chief was talking at Botire village where a University student allegedly committed suicide after a disagreement with his father.
According to the chief, the 27-year old victim, Ombaso Ogenche took his own life after the father restrained him from selling their only cow with intensions to use the money for unknown purposes.
The angered man swallowed a chemical spray then proceeded to his bed before he was heard groaning, attracted the family members who broke the door in efforts to rescue him.
The victim was taken to St. Jodesh’s Tabaka Mission Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Kenyenya Sub-county police Commander Mr. Philip Oyugi confirmed the death, saying that his officers were investigating the matter.
The incident comes barely four months after his mother died after a short illness.
