Mbale High students arrested and arraigned over arson

A total of nine students from Mbale Boys High School have been arrested and taken to court in connection to a fire incident that occurred a month ago at the school dormitory.

Speaking in his office, school Principal Peter Omutiti said the suspects will not be allowed back to school until the case is heard and determined.

Through investigations, it is alleged that the suspects are part of form three and form four students who were involved in setting a section of the dormitory on fire.

Principal said that after half term break, students reported back to school apart from the suspects with emphasis on guiding and counseling them for peace to understand their purpose while in school.

Learning continues as usual after the fire tragedy as the school putts extra watch on all sections including dorms with security personnel deployed all over.

Student leaders in charge of dorms have been told to make sure all learners are out before closing them with keys handed to dorm teachers.

”We do random searching in dorms and around the school to ensure safety precautions are followed. I told them to watch over each other and be checking on other student’s movements,” Omutiti explained.

Roll calls have also been advanced as principal says would minimize movement especially at night.

He asked teachers on duty to be more vigilant when learners go to sleep as most infernos happen at night.
