A 14 year old boy doused in petrol and set a blaze by his elder brothers has died at Mandera County Teaching and Referral hospital.
The boy’s distraught father Abdulllahi Hassan Shaur could not come to terms with the loss of his beloved son as he shed tears of pain while reporting the matter to police officers.
According to Kamor area Chief Mohamed Kusow the boy who was in standard seven in Kamor Primary School in Mandera was lured to their house by his elder brothers who rolled him up in a mattress then doused it in petrol and set it ablaze .
“The boy was set ablaze by his elder brothers who feared that he might testify against one of them accused of stealing a mobile phone ,’’ said Kusow who added that police officers rushed to the house as it went up in flames and rescued the boy who had sustained serious burns .
The chief said detectives arrested the brothers Ibrahim Ahmed Shaur 20 and Yussuf Ahmed Shaur 17 who had gone into hiding. The two suspects are in custody at Mandera Police Station and will be charged for the offence of murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code .
“We hope the arrest of the two suspects will bring some semblance of justice to the family and friends of the young boy,” said the chief who ruled out chances of an out of court settlement.
