Kisumu Senator Fred Outa has vehemently opposed plans by the County Government to relocate Kisumu Boys High School to Kibos area in order to create space for the city’s expansion.

Speaking during a visit to the institution, Outa said the school is like a heritage site which must be preserved for prosperity.

Outa called on the county government to rebuild the Kisumu Boys High School perimeter wall it demolished and expressed concern about the security of teachers and learners after the demolition   of the wall.

‘The county must act fast to reconstruct the wall through the emergency funds,” the senator said.

The wall had earlier on killed a woman next to the bus park prompting Kisumu City to bring down its length.

The senator, who is also the vice-chair of the senate Committee on National Defence and Foreign relations, noted that he will follow up the matter to ensure that the county puts into use the money allocated every year to address disasters.

Outa promised to support the school that has produced professionals achieve its intended desires.

The school’s chief principal Peter Obwogo said the school has a number of challenges that need to be addressed by stakeholders.

The alumni of the school led by their chairman James Mwamu threatened to move to court if the county government attempts to bring down the institution.

Plans to demolish the school were first hatched by the Governor Professor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o.

The city manager Abala Wanga later said that only the Aga Khan hospital will be spared. He added that the space will be used for the construction of a shopping mall.
