Instill tree planting practice in children, says KUPPET boss

Makueni County Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Chairman Mr. Erastus Kimetu has called upon teachers to instill tree planting exercise to school children at an early age.

Speaking during tree planting day at Kwa-Kathoka, he called for more supplies of seedlings to schools so that they can actualize the practice.

“Let us eradicate deforestation and lead children with examples in schools. Trees should be planted all the time not only during rainy season but also in the dry season,” he said.

He called upon parents to teach their children at home on how to plant and nurture trees. Kimetu observed that many plant and leave them to dry instead of taking care of them.

The chairman added that children should be involved to embrace tree planting and learn of its importance.
