Residents of central Kamagambo have been urged to embrace dialogues so as to avert cases of gender based violence.

Area chief Silas Ngoje Adika said there is a rise in the cases of gender based violence and suicide.

‘The increase in such cases is a worry. I’m calling upon spouses to embrace dialogue in cases of disagreements so that there is   peaceful co-existence and a good environment for their children to grow,” said Adika

Speaking to Education News in his office, Adika talked of how disheartening it is to see young people committing suicide and families separating.

“Through the department of gender and social services, we have put in place mechanisms to deal with such matters.” He noted.

On Tuesday, during the Eid al Adha celebrations in Migori county, Sheikh Yusuf Mohammed, the chairman of the Islamic community in Migori had expressed the same concerns.
