Blame games as auctioneers raid KNUT premises to recover over Kshs 1.4 M

By Malachi Motano

The new Kenya national union of teachers (KNUT) officials now blame their predecessors for the underhand dealings that have left the unions premise and attached property at the mercy of auctioneers.

On Tuesday, the auctioneers raided KNUT offices at the headquarter along Mfangano street in Nairobi over debt and attached property estimated to around Ksh 1.4 million

“We (the newly elected officials) were not aware of the debts. I just arrived and found them taking the office furniture and a lot of other equipment. I pleaded to talk to them but they did not give me time.  You can clearly see that some leaders were engaged in some underhand dealings and with time we will know what else is wrong, said Hesbon Otieno, the newly elected KNUT deputy secretary general.

According to the KNUT deputy Secretary General, the latest development is the start of major clean-up in the union as hidden rot begins to reveal itself.
