Kebirigo High School beat more than 40 secondary schools to top Nyamira County in the 2020 KCSE examinations.
The Country Director Of Education, Mrs. Margaret Mwirigia, confirmed that the school will take all its 199 candidates who sat the examinations to the university.
The school started with 2 students who scored grade A- while 67 of them scored grade B+ as another 67 candidates scored grade B plain; 35 candidates scored grade C+ to close the chapter of the school’s successful cohort to university with a mean score of 8.8.
The traditional national examination giants in the county, Nyambaria School followed with a mean score of 8.7, slightly ahead of Sironga National Girls’ School that scored a mean of 8.2 ahead of Nyakemincha Mixed Secondary that hit a mean of 8 0.
Nyansabakwa Boys’ School at the Nyamira-Homa Bay border seized a mean score of 8.0 to cut a niche in the big five of Nyamira County in 2020s national examinations
Another school that made remarkable improvement is St. Paul’s Gekano Boys School. They hit a mean score of 6.8 points.
According to the principal, Mr. Albert Ombiro, the institution registered 103 candidates; two of them scored A- but 3 and 10 candidates scored B+ and B plain respectively. There were 17 candidates with B- while 29 students scored grade C+ to take them to public universities with a mean score of 6.8.
Nyakongo and Nyamira Boys schools tied at 6.7 followed by Menyenya SDA Secondary and Nyansiongo Boys School with a mean score of 6.7 and 6 3 respectively.
Other schools that posted impressive results include Bosiango Secondary, Matingo Boys, Rigoma Secondary and Gesiaga High School in that order.
Nyamira County Commissioner, Amos Mariba lauded the teachers and students for the good performance. He promised that his officers will provide the required security for the welfare and growth of all learning institutions.
