Shock has engulfed a village in Migori County after a man was found cohabiting with two minors he claimed to be his wives.
The minors married as first and second wives have been living in Apida village with the man under the same roof since school closed for Easter holidays according to the village elder.
The village elder Conslate Odongo alerted the police and the area chief who only managed to arrest the second wife who is a form one student at a nearby school.
Odongo said the man in question managed to escape together with his first wife, a class six pupil but sent word out to the locals to help in the search of the two saying the act is against the law and must only be handled by the police now.
“It’s a pity that the mother of the man also considers the two minors as her daughters-in-law despite acknowledging that they are not of age. To our surprise when we arrived at their house we also found the mother of the class six girl who had gone to visit her daughter at her husbands’ house,” said Odongo.
She also said they also managed to arrest a retired clinician for alleged defilement of a minor who is both physically and mentally challenged from the same village.
Ms. Odongo while narrating the story said that she only got informed of the situation minutes after the minor gave birth to a baby girl assisted by her mother at home.
She urged locals to remain vigilant of such characters in their area of residents and to protect their children.
