Leaders urge parents to closely monitor their children

Migori County leaders have urged parents and guardians to exercise their parental obligations promptly during the holiday season curb indiscipline among learners.

Uriri Member of Parliament Mark Nyamita called on parents to impact discipline on their children during the seven weeks holiday through moral value teachings.

Nyamita lamented that indiscipline among learners has impacted heavy budget to the government and NGCDF.

Awendo Member of Parliament called on locals to protect children and government projects encouraging parents to spend ample time with their children to ensure they understand the importance of education and respect to property.

Owino said most learners get affected over the holidays especially because they are left home as parents spend most of the time out of the homesteads in search of livelihoods.

Owino discouraged child labour calling on citizens to ensure children within their residential areas are protected and natured with moral values.

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Rongo branch Executive Secretary Eunice Bosco said parents laxity causes indiscipleine among learners.

Bosco blamed parents for the attacks directed to teachers by learners.

She urged parents to understand the role of teachers and stop burdening tutors with parental obligations.
