West Pokot and Trans-Nzoia Principals visit to condole fallen St. Joseph’s school head family

Principals from West Pokot and Trans-Nzoia  Counties have paid a visit to St Josephs  Kitale High School Principal Wilson Yego  home following his demise.

According to the family members, the deceased died due to difficulties in breathing.

The principals were lead by Chewoyet  High school principal  Barasa Kiminisi, others included  Consolata Tum from Tartar Girls, Phylis Chepkok from Nasokol Girls, Eva Tsuma from  St Teresa Bikeke, and Francisca Chepkwony from Loret Girls High School Matunda.


Speaking to education Newspaper Kiminisi described the deceased as industrious, steadfast, and a committed teacher and principal.

“When I was posted to Chewoyet High school was the first principal I ever talked to and he shared his experience with me where  I learned to allot from him and things are going on well in my school thanks to his advice,” he said.

He said Yego was a teacher and principal who had achieved a lot and that he leaves behind a rich legacy that has touched and mentored .


“He was at Kamagut and thee school did well, he went to St Patrick’s Iten the school also did well and for the short time, he has been at st josephs boys we’ve seen him moving that school to the next level.

Chewoyet High School principals said his demise is a big blow to the education fraternity as a whole.

“The education fraternity has lost a great asset those who we have been left behind we shall carry his vision forward by mentoring more youths as he did,” he said.

Tartar principal Consolata Tum said Yego was a man of the people, easily accessible
and she consulted him  whenever
she faced any difficulties.

“Yego was a creative man and never mince words, he  had a passion for excellence and was strict in performance,, Yego was very straightforward and  was loved by everyone. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” she said.

St Teresa Bikeke Principal Eva  Wedy Tsuma   described Yego as a wise counsel on matters academic.

“I will forever remember  Mr Yego for his wise counsel on matters academics. He was result oriented and a go getter as evidenced from his outstanding performance at Kamagut, Seko, Kabarak, St Patrick’s Iten and St Joseph’s boys’ Kitale. May his legacy live on for decades, fare thee well,” she said.

Francisca Chepkwony principal Loreto Matunda says “I worked with Yego and he was a straight forward and down to earth man, as principals we have lost a legend who has left an indelible mark. Rest in peace comrade,”

Phylis Chepkok from Nasokol Girls said she has lost a close friend to whom she sought advice from.
“I don’t know what to say, it is very sad to lose such a soul May God give you strength during this hard time of mourning, you will dearly be missed,” she said.

Collins Sang the paternal uncle to the deceased said the deceased died after developing breathing difficulties.
“As a family, we are in shock for losing such a loved one, so far we have not established the type of disease of son died of but what we know is that he devolved breathing problems,” he said.
The deceased will be laid to rest at his rural home in Elgeyo Marakwet on March 20, 2021.
