County governments to allocate funds for school infrastructures

By Staff Reporter

As directed by the government, a multi-agency team is currently visiting schools to check on the compliance with the Covid-19 set protocols.

Speaking during one of the tours to Trans Nzoia and Elgeyo Marakwet, Principal Secretary for Post Training and Skills Development Alfred Rotich and his University Education counterpart noted the need for putting up more infrastructure in public schools.

The duo, however, asked the local leadership to provide support to the government’s agenda of expanding the school’s infrastructure by providing funds for the construction of classrooms, dormitories, laboratories, dining halls and toilets.

The PSs noted that despite some schools being National, inadequate infrastructure is still a challenge.

PS Rotich said that the national government provides money but it might no meet the required standards therefore, calling on the county government to allocate infrastructural funds to create a conducive environment for the learners.

On the other hand, PS Nabukwesi blamed the local government for not having education as the top priority in their budgets.

Speaking to girls at AIC Secondary School Iten where 12 pregnancies were reported with 8 of them being candidates, Nabukwesi cautioned learners against indulging in premarital sex. He urged them to focus on their studies instead.
