President William Ruto has directed the Teachers Service Commission to allocate 50 teaching slots to Akorino candidates and ordered the immediate construction of a Ksh120 million college in Ruai, Nairobi, in a move announced Sunday at State House.

The directive to the Teachers Service Commission comes ahead of the next recruitment cycle, with the President saying the additional positions will open doors for qualified Akorino graduates seeking entry into the teaching service.

“We are creating more opportunities for your children. Fifty more teaching slots will go to Akorino candidates because they have proven they can deliver,” Ruto said.

At the same time, the Head of State announced that construction of a new college on a six-acre parcel in Ruai will begin immediately, with completion expected within a year. He indicated that groundwork is complete, including issuance of the title deed and identification of the site, allowing contractors to move in without delay.

“This week construction begins, and by next year we should be meeting at your completed college,” he said.

The development builds on an earlier government pledge to establish the Akorino Africa Bible College, first announced during the Akorino National Prayers Conference in Nakuru in June 2024, where Ruto committed Ksh50 million to support the initiative as a centre for biblical studies and leadership training.

The institution will feature modern facilities, including a music production studio, while a new access road is already under construction to support the project.

Ruto added that a trustee team comprising key government officials will oversee implementation, with education and legal experts guiding its establishment.
